We are pleased to announce our new EP Surf Wars Vol 1: The Day The Surf Stood Still will be released 9th February 2022 on our own Voodoo Canapé label on deep red and sea blue 7” vinyl, and across all streaming platforms!
Written and recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown, these 4 tracks showcase the bands long-standing love of instrumental music, drawing inspiration from the likes of Dick Dale, Duane Eddy, Link Wray, The Shadows and The Ventures, as well as 21st Century surf-rock bands such as Daikaiju and Man Or Astro-Man?
Drawing additional inspiration from the spaghetti-western soundtracks of Ennio Morricone and the TV themes of Barry Gray (Stingray, Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet etc), Surf Wars takes the classic spring-reverb twang of surf guitars and sets them against a backdrop of punk rock retro-psychedelia, using drums, bass guitar and double bass, organ and even some mandolin to paint the soundscape.
